Rev. Leon Boggs - Pastor

Rev. Boggs received Christ as his Savior in 1974 during a Lay Witness Mission at First United Methodist Curch in Denham Springs, La.  In 1979, he answered God's call to preach the Gospel and moved his family to Wilmore, Kentucky where he attended Asbury Theological Seminary.  During seminary Rev. Boggs pastored the Mitchellsburg UMC in Mitchellsburg, Kentucky between 1982 and 1983.  In 1983, he was appointed as pastor of the Colfax-Hollins Chapel charge in Colfax, La., where he served for 4 years. Then he was assigned to First UMC in Baker, La.  After serving 3 years at Baker, he was moved to Roankoe, La. to serve the Roanoke and Wesley UMC charge in Roanoke and Crowley, La.  After 3 years he was appointed to the Wesley-Hackberry Charge in Sulphur, La. where he served as pastor for 16 years.

Rev. Boggs was assigned as pastor of Lakeview UMC in Minden in June 2009.  He comes here with 27 years of pastoral experience and looks forward to serving the Lakeview congregation and the Minden community.

He and his wife, Mary Ann, have been married for 40 years. They have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. He enjoys reading, fishing, bowling, preaching, people, and teaching God's word.

His favorite scripture is Ephesians 2: 8-10; "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and not that of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God has prepared before hand that we should walk in Him."

Marsha Watts - Music Director and Church Secretary
Email Marsha

Marsha has been wrapped in music since she was a very small girl!  She has always played piano in church and always been a member of the choir, wherever she was.

She began directing the Lakeview Handbell Ringers in 1997.  Lakeview's handbell choir meets weekly and plays often for our congregation. She began directing the Chancel Choir upon the retirement of the Choir Director in 2002. Marsha believes that the soul finds joy in God's music, and that His word can reach even the hardest heart through melody and words.

In January of 2009, Marsha became Lakeview's Secretary/Treasurer upon the retirement of our long time secretary. Marsha states that "This position is a joy and a chance to minister to our congregation and anyone who calls or enters the church. We now can keep in touch through e-mails, and phone messaging which helps us reach one another faster and keep our prayer chains updated and working. I strive to be a witness to anyone who comes into the church that Lakeview is an active, involved, spiritual, community and family minded church that is a blessing to be a part of."

God has truly blessed Lakeview with Marsha's many talents, hard work and smiling face.

Becky Webb - Youth Director

Betty Keating - Pianist

Betty began her musical studies with piano lessons at the age of 9.  At 15, she became the pianist for the Bistineau Baptist Church, the church of renowned hymn composer and arranger B. B. McKinney.  After graduating high school, she continued her studies of music at La. Tech for five years, graduating Cum Laude with teaching certification in piano and vocal music.  She taught supervised music in the Caddo Parish public school system for 25 years.  During that time and after she retired from the public school system, she remained active in the area of church music, serving as pianist/organist for churches in Ruston, Shreveport, Bossier City, Ringgold and Minden.  She has been the pianist for Lakeview since 1993.

Lakeview has been blessed to have this sweet and talented lady for the past    years.  Her talent on the piano is such a beautiful gift to the church and adds so much to our services and special musical programs.

"The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation."       Psalm 118:14
